MIDLANDS-BASED G F Tomlinson has completed a £15 million project to provide a state-of-the-art expansion to the Brose UK factory and distribution facility in Coventry.
The scheme has allowed for the site to double in capacity, requiring the recruitment of an additional 300 employees to the existing workforce.
Brose UK manufactures components for the auto industry at the Bedworth site and now has the capacity to produce 350,000 lightweight rear seat systems per annum for high-profile clients such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota.-
Andy Sewards, director for G F Tomlinson said the team was delighted to have been involved in such a significant project for the city of Coventry and the wider Midlands region.
“Helping to boost employment and UK production within our economic region is something that G F Tomlinson is proud to have been a part of,” he said.
“The project has enabled Brose UK to double the factory’s capacity with an 11,000 square metre extension to house the installation of one of the most advanced production lines in the company, along with office space, storage and distribution facilities and a new 150 space car park.
“Working on a project that has such an impact on local employment and the UK motor supply chain is an honour. This contract has not only had a significant impact on the growth of Brose, but has helped to boost the local economy.”
The state-of-the-art facility has been supported by £3 million of funding from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and forms part of a wider regeneration plan to improve economic and employment opportunities for people in the area.
G F Tomlinson was awarded the high-profile scheme due to its strong track record of delivering new multi-million pound production facilities and the company’s collaborative approach to working in and around live operating environments.
