G F Tomlinson has beat off stiff competition to be selected by The University of Nottingham to help deliver their new £23m Advanced Manufacturing Building at their expanding Jubilee Campus.
The Midlands-based contractor will now work alongside the University, Architects Bond Bryan, Structural and Services Engineers, Arup and Project Managers, Turner and Townsend to design and build the new 9,500m2 building which faces Derby Road. At the same time a new entrance linking the Jubilee Campus to Derby Road will be formed improving connections with the city and the University Park campus.
The Advanced Manufacturing Building will provide a new research facility with state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories, accommodating around 400 staff, students and researchers.
The facility will link teaching and training activities, research and knowledge exchange to nurture open innovation practices and collaboration between academic and support staff, students, researchers and industrialists.
Richard Wigginton, Head of Capital Projects at the University, said “We are delighted to once again be working with G F Tomlinson and are looking forward to the successful delivery of another challenging but exciting project.”
It is the fifth project on the University’s Jubilee Campus to be delivered by G F Tomlinson, having successfully completed previous schemes including the Romax Technology Head Office and Si Yuan Centre.
Andy Sewards, Managing Director of G F Tomlinson, said “This is a flagship development which builds on our reputation for delivering high quality, sustainable buildings within the higher education sector and we are thrilled to have been selected to deliver another project on the Jubilee Campus.
We are proud of our existing relationship with The University of Nottingham and we look forward to continuing this relationship to deliver the Advanced Manufacturing Building.”
Work will begin on the site in August.
