G F Tomlinson has continued its longstanding relationship of Chesterfield’s local community and football club through its support of the Sparkle Walk, in aid of Ashgate Hospice.
The Walk, now in its second year, took place on Saturday 2nd July, and involved 2000 participants. It raised £168,371, an improvement on last year’s total of £127,000. In addition, it was hosted from Chesterfield Football Club, an organisation with which G F Tomlinson already has an established relationship through sponsorship of their team’s shirts.
Maria Warren, Office Manager – G F Tomlinson said of the walk: “I was extremely proud to have been involved in this great event, supporting a fantastic local hospice. The organisation of the event was first-class and everyone seemed to have a brilliant time.” Alongside colleagues from the Women in Construction Group, G F Tomlinson collectively raised £587.
Ashgate Hospicecare Events Fundraiser Charlotte Gratton also heaped praise on the Sparkle Walk saying “It was absolutely amazing. To see everyone so excited and having such a great time whilst raising money for patients and their families in North Derbyshire made everything worthwhile.”
Ashgate Hospice first opened in 1988, and offers palliative and end of life care for people in North Derbyshire with life limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families. It provides a range of services both within the hospice building and outside of it, such as in the community or through the Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
