Having trained as an accountant, I spent my early working life employed as an auditor for a small local practice before moving into industry as an accountant for a large plc.
I joined G F Tomlinson over 30 years ago as an accountant, supporting the various companies within the Group. The majority of these years were spent working with Barry Sewards, the Groups former Owner and Chairman.
I was appointed as Company Secretary in 2014 and a Director of the Group and its Subsidiary Companies in 2016, where I worked closely with Barry Sewards and Andrew Sewards, supporting and advising them on the strategic direction and financial growth of the business.
Following the retirement of his father, I continue to provide board level support to Andrew Sewards in his role as Owner and Chairman of the Group.
In my role as Director and Company Secretary, I oversee all the financial, legal and HR functions within the business, ensuring corporate governance.
I thoroughly enjoy working at G F Tomlinson, where over the 30 years of service I would like to feel I have made a significant contribution in establishing the company as a major independent, regional business, that still remembers its roots and with the reputation of being one of the Midlands leading construction companies.
On a personal note, having spent many years in a lead volunteer role outside of the business, I am extremely passionate and proud about how G F Tomlinson is committed to harnessing young talent through our ongoing dedicated apprenticeship programme, across the whole of the business and ensuring that we support the local communities we live and work in.
