Developers have taken to the skies to show how work is progressing at one of Nottinghamshire’s newest attraction.
The £1.2m visitor centre at Gedling Country Park is due to open in the summer, and this drone footage reveals how it’s starting to take shape.
Work on the centre began in October, with a café and an outdoor seating area being built to go alongside the £120,000 play area that opened last year and the extensive network of paths at the site which opened to the public in 2015.
Andy Sewards, managing director for Midlands-based construction firm G F Tomlinson, said: “This new centre will help to enhance the visitor experience at Gedling Country Park and helps to improve Nottinghamshire’s outdoor spaces.
We’re proud to be involved in a project that has been inspired by students and led by the council.Work is progressing well onsite and once complete in summer 2017, I’m sure this centre will be used for years to come by schools, families and the local community.”
The design for the centre was inspired by work undertaken by students from Nottingham Trent University, who worked with the leader of Gedling Borough Council, Councillor John Clarke and the council’s parks team on potential design ideas earlier in the year.
Speaking last October, Councillor John Clarke, leader of Gedling Borough Council, said: “This, along with the new childrens’ play area, will make this park one of the best places to visit in the country, never mind the county.
“The park has already been a success since we opened and this will make it one of the top destination parks around.”
