DERBY-based construction company G F Tomlinson organised a sporting event which saw eight local teams competing in a series of seven-a-side football matches at Chesterfield FC and ended with a presentation ceremony, auction and a raffle to raise further funds.
The tournament was part of G F Tomlinson’s pledge to raise funds for Ashgate Hospicecare as its 2017 ‘Charity of the Year’. Monies raised will help the charity provide a community nurse to deliver home care in the local community to patients who are not able to reach a hospice.
Alison Ward-Foster, Partnerships Manager at Ashgate Hospicecare, said “It is absolutely fantastic that G F Tomlinson continues to support Ashgate Hospicecare through fantastic events like the charity football tournament. The money they have donated and raised so far has already enabled us to care for more patients across North Derbyshire.
“Without the generosity and support of businesses like G F Tomlinson, we simply wouldn’t be able to provide vital care for those who need it the most, and for that, we are eternally grateful.”
Andy Sewards, Managing Director of G F Tomlinson Group, said: “We are proud to support Ashgate Hospicecare which provides care and support for families, patients and carers across North Derbyshire.
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of generosity from our teams and our local supply chain, who kindly donated raffle prizes. We’d like to thank them for helping to make the fundraising event such a success and help us raise £1665 on the day.
“We will be holding more events throughout the year to raise funds for this charity which provides valuable support to people in the local community. I’m confident that the funds raised will help Ashgate Hospicecare continue its amazing work.”
“This event has been a great success and has brought together our clients, partners and supply chain members to raise awareness and money for a great charity in Ashgate Hospice”.
This event was supported by Scape Group, Arc Partnership, Whittam Cox Architects, Perfect Circle (a consortium including AECOM, Gleeds and Pick Everard), Derry Ltd and students from Chesterfield College all took part in the event, with a dedicated team from AECOM taking the title of tournament winner.
