Design & Build
A full remodelling and refurbishment of a six storey office block to house Nottingham’s Central Police Station.
This new base for Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham City Council Community Protection has been designed to house 210 people and with future expansion plans in mind, with reduced operating costs through the design.
The refurbishment brings Byron House up to current building standards, including improved mechanical and electrical infrastructure capable of servicing the high specification police equipment. The station now incorporates multi-functional space, both open-plan and individual office facilities and a holding area, conference rooms, along with kitchen a breakout space.
Integrating different service providers into the same facility, the project captured the various complex requirements of the multiple stakeholders and was delivered in line with the original timescales which allowed the decant from the existing police station into Central Police Station.
The project was undertaken within the heart of Nottingham City Centre, and therefore close liaison with the adjacent business owners to ensure that minimal disruption was caused during the construction phase. We ensured careful planning and communication during the pre-construction stage and throughout the project to ensure that the appropriate methodologies were adopted for a safe delivery.
Two joinery apprentices joined the project team to gain invaluable skills on site as part of our ongoing commitment to help tackle the skills gap, along with three work experience placements.
Gary Shaw, Project Consultant of Nottingham City Council said:“Throughout this project G F Tomlinson have helped to create much needed learning opportunities for local apprentices
