Design & Build

Working with the Heritage National Trust this project involved the refurbishment of the 19th centry Grade I Listed Museum of Childhood in Sudbury, Derbyshire.

The work included the removal, relocation of M&E services, new stairs, and installation to provide a new reception area together with disabled access between the ground and first floor. Also the installation of new exhibition displays. The design incorporated the reinstatement of a floor over a large hall. All design and works needs approval of both The National Trust and English Heritage as well as the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Contract Period Museum: 24 weeks
Contract Period Tea Rooms: 16 weeks

On the successful completion of this phase we were entrusted to undertake a second phase of works which consisted of the conversion of the coach house into a two-storey tea room and refurbishment of the gift shop.

“It was a pleasure working with G F Tomlinson, they worked well within the confines of the National Trust and English Heritage Framework.”
